Convenio Refurbishes Budlingin Daycare Center

Residents of Barangay Budlingin, Alegria, Surigao del Norte, expressed their gratitude for their newly repaired Daycare Center. Parents, and the 27 children currently enrolled, are amazed and happy with the new and improved look of their Daycare Center: newly painted roofs, walls and ceilings, glass jalousies, new doors, paved entranced, repaired gate and improved fence and tiled toilets, were some of the improvements.

It was during the Participatory Rural Appraisal and the formulation of their Barangay Development Plan, that parents, Daycare workers and members of the barangay council (headed by Punong Barangay Hon. Arlencita C. Paquiao), originally raised the issue regarding the deplorable condition of the Daycare Center. Thus, the repair of the Daycare Center became one of the priority projects identified under the Education component of Convenio 07-Co1-031.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The Barangay Education Technical Working Group, chaired by Daycare worker, Ms. Elenita P. Tabamo, and assisted by Community Development Facilitator, Mr. Weng Lobrigas, supported by the Barangay Council and the local government of Alegria, prepared all the documents and processed the required counterpart from stakeholders. Fundacion Intered approved the repair proposal, amounting to Php 119,139.00; the repair works commenced on May 12, 2011, following a pre-construction meeting. The skilled workers hired for the project are all barangay residents, and a total of 42 barangay volunteers helped in all the major and minor activities. Engineering supervision plus the provision of sand & gravel were provided by the Municipal LGU, under the leadership by Hon. Mayor Dominador G. Esma Jr.; food-for-work for the volunteers was provided by the MSWDO.

As of this writing, the audio-video equipment was just delivered to the Daycare Center, adding excitement and entertainment for the daycare kids.

Surigao Norte gov leads blessing of Nursery Operation Center, MENRO in Alegria

SURIGAO DEL NORTE, June 30 -– In support to the national program of President Benigno Aquino’s “Plant a Billion Tree Project,” Gov. Sol Matugas of this province, along with Alegria Mayor Dominador Esma, Jr. led the blessing and cutting of ribbons to the newly constructed Nursery Operation Center and Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) on Wednesday, June 29 this town.

Matugas acknowledged the initiative of the local government unit (LGU) in protecting the local environment.

According to Mayor Esma, the LGU will provide seedlings to 12 barangays of the town at 25,000 per barangay starting this year up to 2016.

In a related development, Gov. Matugas also led the launching of Rice Duck Farming (RDF) to eight (8) cooperators of the town yesterday at 150 ducks per hectare under the Phil. Agrarian Reform Fund (PARFund).

RDF is an organic way of producing rice but at less cost than traditional farming system. It gives farmers additional sources of income through the sales of healthy and organic rice, ducks and duck meat, and duck eggs (balut and salted egg). (MPDC-Alegria/PIA-Surigao del Norte)

New integrated transport terminal in Alegria inaugurated

BUTUAN CITY, April 6 - The local government unit of Alegria, Surigao del Norte has recently inaugurated its Php12.39 Million Integrated Transport Terminal in Barangay Julio Ouano.

The said terminal is a project of Mindanao Basic Urban Services Sector Project (MBUSSP) under the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Municipal Development Fund Office (MDFO) thru the Department of Finance (DOF). It is designed to improve the transportation system of urban residents in the said area.

The new terminal boasts its six (6) parking bays for buses with elevated concrete walkways and bays for multicabs, jeepneys and vans. It also includes separate parking spaces for private cars and tricycles, collection ticket booths, passenger waiting areas, comfort rooms and restaurants.

The inauguration and ceremonial blessing was attended by Atty. Rene K.Burdeos-DILG XIII Regional Director, Governor Sol. F. Matugas of Surigao del Norte and Alegria Municipal Mayor Dominador Esma, Jr.

RD Burdeos commended the local initiators who completed the project on time. According to him, the project will surely boost trade and commerce in the municipality.

Alegria, Surigao Norte inaugurates new Level III-Water Supply System

BUTUAN CITY, April 6 - The Municipality of Alegria, Surigao del Norte has recently inaugurated the Php13.25 Million newly constructed Level III-Water Supply System which will provide safe drinking water to nine (9) target barangays.

The said project is enrolled by the local government unit of Alegria to the Millennium Development Goals Fund (MDG Fund) through the Municipal Development Fund Office of the Department of Finance (MDFO-DOF).

In his speech, Atty. Rene K. Burdeos, DILG XIII Regional Director, said that funding constraints on the part of low-income LGUs is viewed as a stumbling block to the concrete and meaningful attainment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). He stressed that for the said reason, the Municipal Development Fund Office (MDFO) of the Department of Finance (DOF) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has initiated the establishment of a separate lending facility that offers concessional financing for LGUs to fast track the localization of MDGs.

“We have enrolled the water system subproject to DILG to provide access to safe and potable water to Alegria residents,” said Alegria Municipal Mayor Dominador Esma, Jr during his speech.

Mayor Esma added that the water system subproject will help eradicate water-borne diseases, generate employment and bring development and additional income to Alegria. He further added the improvement of the water system will encourage the private sector to invest in the municipality. Mayor Esma expressed his gratefulness to DILG for sharing its technical expertise to the project implementation through series of capability building trainings it provided from project preparation to project operations.

MDGF is a development project of DILG through its Office of Project Development Service (OPDS) which intends to provide institutional capability-building program and pursue infrastructure investment support to participating LGUs in the country. ACES and ANHS to conduct alumni gatherings on May

The Alegria Central Elementary School (ACES) will be holding its 1st Alumni Homecoming on May 12, 2011. Ms. Lyding Angob, a teacher of the said school and alumni of ACES reveals Monday, April 4, 2011 during a colloquial conversation. Ms. Myraluz Alac, another teacher from Ombong Elementary School also disclosed that it was the first time that the ACES will be facilitating the alumni homecoming with the initiative of the new District Supervisor of Alegria.

Meanwhile the President of ANHS Alumni Association Ms. Luniza Garrido announced that there will be alumni gathering to be set on May 13, 2011. Ms. Garrido reveals that the ANHS Alumni Association is planning to sponsor a live band disco on the said gathering as part of the fund raising activity of the association. Significant plans will be also published on the said gathering in preparation for the next grand alumni homecoming which will be held by next year.

Alegria Transport Terminal soon to open

Alegria, Surigao del Norte - The Municipality of Alegria will be having a big formal opening for its newly completed transport terminal by first week of April 2011, Ms. Rachelle T. Mosquito, the Assistant LMDA Action Officer of Alegria disclosed Friday, March 11, 2011 during the LMDA-TWG meeting held at Alegre Dinner and Grill this municipality.

The transport terminal is a loan facility of the municipality from Department of Finance in the amount of Php 12,395,547.79 with an interest rate of 9% per annum payable within 15 years. It started its construction last March 12, 2010 under contract by JMT Construction of Surigao City.

The lot area of 3,000 square meters where the project located at Barangay Don Julio Ouano is constructed was bought by the municipality in the amount of Php 650,000.00 and another amount of Php 783,340.00 was appropriated in the 20% municipal development fund for the purchase of electrical transformer, design and construction supervision expenses. LGU spearheaded Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Government Officials and Employees

In response to the call for change by joining Civil Service Commission in providing Responsive Accessible Courteous and Effective (RACE) public service, the Local Government Unit of Alegria, surigao del Norte, spearheaded by the Local Chief Executive through the office of the Human Resource Management conducted a re-orientation seminar on RA 6713 otherwise known as “CODE OF DONDUCT and ETHICAL STANDARDS for government officials and employees” for all officials and employees last August 23, 2010.

The Human Resource Management aims to promote a paradigm shift of all employees especially towards their working attitudes. The new assigned Director Noemi Rabe- Torres was the one facilitating the seminar. It was attended by forty –two (42) permanent employees and six (6) elected officials, namely; Mayo-Mayor Dominador G. Esma Jr. who was actively listening, Vice- Mayor Uldarico Uriarte Jr., SB Members Hon. Reynaldo Ugay, Hon. Edgar Opalia, Hon. Ernesto Odjinay Sr. and Hon. Jerry Bacud.

RCCB settles census conflict (in Alegria & Kitcharao)

Butuan City (26 August) -- The Regional Census Coordination Board (RCCB), chaired by Director Carmencita S. Cochingco of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Caraga, successfully settled the census of population and housing in the contested area between Alegria in Surigao del Norte and Kitcharao in Agusan del Norte in relation to the conduct of the 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH) during a meeting held on July 14, 2010 at the NEDA Conference Room, Butuan City.

Pending final resolution of the boundary dispute, both parties agreed to adopt the official 2007 maps and 2010 census used by the National Statistics Office (NSO) ? Caraga for the population count of Barangay Poblacion, specifically in Sitio Siringan and in the socialized housing project BLISS. Poblacion has been the contested area between Alegria and Kitcharao for many years, which has a population count of 2,383 in 2007. (continue)

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced Wednesday that 1,597 out of 2,300 passed the Physician (Complete and Finals with Prelims) Licensure Examination given by the Board of Medicine in the cities of Manila, Cebu and Davao this August 2010.

Surigao City (1 June) -- The Lanbank Surigao City branch released the 4Ps cash subsidy to set 3 municipalities of Surigao del Norte through over-the-counter scheme on May 18-21, 2010. These towns include Alegria, Mainit, Sta. Monica and Burgos.

A total of 1,797 4Ps beneficiaries queued outside the Landbank building to claim their cash grants. Beneficiaries were elated upon receiving the cash grants for they now have money to spend for their children's uniforms and school supplies for the opening of classes next month.

4Ps in Surigao del Norte started in 2008. At present, the province has 15 4Ps municipalities

Panatawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) is one of the flagship programs of the government in fighting against poverty. It program provides cash grants to extremely poor households to improve their health, nutrition and education and to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty through human investment. RPOC-13 gives free daylong gov't services in Surigao del Norte town

Brgy. Budlingin, Alegria, Surigao del Norte (26 April) -- RPOC 13 held its "Hiniusang Paghatod Serbisyo sa mga Ahensya sa Gobyerno", as part of its convergence undertakings for the year 2010 to strengthen the Council's goal in bringing the government closer to the people through the delivery of basic services to the community.

Alegria, Surigao del Norte, known as "the Rice Granary of the Province of Surigao del Norte", was chosen as beneficiary by the Council, for having depressed barangays in far-flung areas, where government services are inadequately felt. (read more)

Budlingin Trading Center construction completes

The construction of Budlingin Trading Center at Brgy. Budlingin, Alegria, Surigao del Norte is now completed and was turned over to LGU Alegria thru Hon. Mayor Dominador G. Esma, Jr. last March 15, 2010 witnessed by Brgy. Captain Alexander A. Pa-as and some members of the Brgy. Council who is the end-user of the facility. The total cost of the project amounted to Php 1,588,917.82 funded by GEM-USAID and the PDAF of Congressman Guillermo A. Romarate, Jr., 2nd congressional district of Surigao del Norte which was facilitated by Mayor Esma to address the need of Barangay Budlingin to have a decent trading/market place.

This building will serve the constituents of Barangay Budlingin as display center of all locally produced agri-products. (read more)

ATI and LGU Alegria conduct IPM/Rice Techno Inforum

LGU Alegria, Surigao del Norte is considered as the rice granary of the province. With this fact, the local government unit intensified its effort to sustain rice production in the area and introduce to the farmers various programs of the Department of Agriculture.

At present, 3 sites had been identified and adopted the techno demo on Palay Check System and these are Brgys. San Juan, Alipao and Poblacion. Thirty (30) farmers are enrolled in this program wherein it is funded by the Department of Agriculture- Regional Field Unit XIII spearheaded by Agricultural Training Institute, Los Angeles, Butuan City. Construction of Alegria Integrated Bus Terminal

The Municipality of Alegria, Surigao del Norte had finally implemented the long awaited ambitious income generating project which is the transport terminal located near the national highway at Brgy. Julio Ouano this municipality. It started last March 12, 2010 under contract by JMT Construction of Surigao City within the period of 300 calendar days and is expected to be completed on January, 2011. (read more)

Turn-over and Blessing Ceremony of DILG-BFP Fire Truck and other Equiptment

Last March 5, 2010 was the formal turn-over and blessing of DILG-BFP Fire Truck, the donated Musical Instruments courtesy of SNPIDA-Australian Aid and the newly purchased Back Hoe coming from the municipal funds of 2010.

It was personally attended by Congressman Guillermo A. Romarate, Jr., Dep-Ed Regional Director Sol F. Matugas, Senior Superintendent Warlito P. Daus, BFP Regional Director and other provincial figures in the Province of Surigao del Norte who made the turned over to the municipals of LGU Alegria headed by Hon. Dominador G. Esma, Jr..

Congressman Romarate stressed in his speech that the people of Alegria is very lucky to have municipal officials of today who are always working for the good and welfare of the town. He added, that LGU Alegria is now progressing and wish that the people would realize how Mayor Esma is sincerely doing for the good of the town. According to the congressman, “ This is just the first term of Mayor Esma and more projects will be coming in to this LGU if he will be given another term by his constituents because of the impressive developments in the municipality” (read more)
