Butuan City (26 August) -- The Regional Census Coordination Board (RCCB), chaired by Director Carmencita S. Cochingco of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Caraga, successfully settled the census of population and housing in the contested area between Alegria in Surigao del Norte and Kitcharao in Agusan del Norte in relation to the conduct of the 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH) during a meeting held on July 14, 2010 at the NEDA Conference Room, Butuan City.
Pending final resolution of the boundary dispute, both parties agreed to adopt the official 2007 maps and 2010 census used by the National Statistics Office (NSO) ? Caraga for the population count of Barangay Poblacion, specifically in Sitio Siringan and in the socialized housing project BLISS. Poblacion has been the contested area between Alegria and Kitcharao for many years, which has a population count of 2,383 in 2007. (continue)
