P700k worth of shabu seized in Surigao del Norte

MANILA -- Police arrested two suspected big-time drug pushers in Alegria, Surigao del Norte on Wednesday.

The suspects were identified as Ernesto Sabongan, alias "Onyot," and his live-in partner Joan Flores, alias "Sarampong.

Armed with a search warrant, police entered the house of the two suspects, where almost 100 grams of shabu (crystal methamphetamine), other drug paraphernalia and guns were confiscated.

The recovered shabu is estimated to be worth around P700,000.

According to police, Sabongan distributes shabu to different parts of the province such as Surigao City, Alegria, Tubod, and Palcer, among others.

The two suspects will be charged for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Dangerous Drugs Act, and of Republic Act 10591, or illegal possession of firearms. -- report from Richmond Hinayon, ABS-CBN News Caraga
